Number 1 Gallery is a contemporary art gallery in Bangkok, has celebrated since its founding in 2006, set inside a century-old black wooden house on Silom Soi 21 in Bang Rak — one of the most atmospheric gallery spaces in the city. The 1,000 sqm flagship runs a progressive monthly exhibition programme focused on Thai contemporary and spiritual subject matter, drawing collectors and enthusiasts from across the country and the region.
The gallery represents both emerging and established Thai artists, including Vasan Sitthiket, Sutee Kunavichayanont, Jirapat Tatsanasomboon, and senior National Artists Pichai Nirand and Thawee Ratchaneekorn, and has participated in international art fairs across Hong Kong, Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, and South Korea. A relaxed in-house café adds to the gallery-as-social-space atmosphere.
A second exhibition space operates inside River City Bangkok on Charoen Krung Soi 24 (Samphan Thawong), offering a riverside venue for additional programming. Open Tuesday–Sunday at both locations.

2 months agoI was surprised to find a place like this in Bangkok. You can view the exhibition for free, but I didn't expect the atmosphere to be this quiet and pleasant. It's the perfect spot to hide away when you're tired of crowded cafes. A place where you can simply linger and appreciate the artwork without a care in the world. However, since exhibitions by different artists are held periodically, it likely isn't always open. During my recent visit, I took photos of unique works that felt distinctly modern yet seemed to offer some form of critique, and I was also able to capture the atmosphere inside the gallery, making it an even more interesting place. You can even encounter a cat sleeping peacefully, and judging by the streetscape outside the gallery, it seems like this is a place that truly loves cats.

5 months agoGreat place to have a drink with a small gallery. Drinks menu is really big, drinks are tasty and prices are very reasonable. Very quiet and not crowded.
