Old Maps & Prints is an antique maps Bangkok specialists trust for Southeast Asia — a curated shop on Charoen Krung Road, Bangkok’s oldest thoroughfare, run by German antiquarian Joerg Kohler with decades of experience sourcing rare material in London, Düsseldorf, and Bangkok.
The shop specialises in antique maps, vintage posters, classic prints, historic engravings, and pre-1900 books covering Thailand (Siam), Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Burma, China, Japan, Malaysia, and Singapore, alongside material from across Asia and the globe.
Every item predates mass-production printing techniques. The online catalogue at classicmaps.com offers one of the widest searchable databases of old Southeast Asia maps available anywhere.
Located at 1044/4-5 Charoen Krung Soi 26 in Bang Rak, visits are by appointment.

2 weeks agoM. Jeorg is an antiquarian in the classic sense with an inimitable collection of materials not to be found elsewhere. Highly recommended.

a month agoI had a very negative experience at this shop. The owner's body language turned hostile -once he felt I was only going to browse and not purchase that day. He demanded me to be careful with his maps, despite I did not do anything at all that could damage them. If he doesn't want people to browse or peruse his maps, he should write a signage and tell us to look only, or better yet, a 'don't come in' warning. He also asked me too many intrusive unasked personal questions to obstruct my viewing. He voiced his opinion regarding a map related subject and contradicted what reputed experts say on the FT, about the vintage map market 🤔 Maybe he knows better than World renowned experts dealers. Or perhaps he is wrong? After my negative experience the good news for him is that I won't step a foot inside his boutique in the future. If you like maps, feel free to go in, just be ready for any potential hostilities and interrogations that could occur. I would rather source elsewhere.

5 months agoLovely owners with great selection of antique maps (which seem to be hard to find in Thailand). Also old prints of Bangkok scenes & some art prints. Range of prices. Well worth a visit! We purchased a small, framed map of old Siam. Can’t wait to hang it on our map wall at home.
