Dib Bangkok is a contemporary art museum Bangkok located on Soi Sukhumvit 40, between Rama IV Road and Sukhumvit, a short walk from BTS Phra Khanong and Ekkamai.

It is Thailand’s first major museum dedicated to international contemporary art, presenting a rotating program of global exhibitions alongside a collection spanning nearly 70 years. The name “Dib” is a Thai word meaning “raw” or “authentic” — reflecting both the building’s design and the museum’s aim to present contemporary art as a shared language across cultures. It was founded by Purat (Chang) Osathanugrah, with Dr. Miwako Tezuka as director.

The building was redesigned by Kulapat Yantrasast of WHY Architecture in collaboration with A49, preserving original industrial elements — exposed concrete pillars and traditional Thai-Chinese window grilles — within a contemporary frame. The layout follows a three-level spatial progression: a raw, industrial ground floor; a more intimate second level; and airy, skylit galleries on the third floor. Other architectural features include a central courtyard, a cone-shaped gallery known as The Chapel, an outdoor sculpture garden along the second-floor walkway, and a rooftop event space.

Admission is ticketed by category: ฿550 for Thai nationals, ฿700 for non-Thai visitors, ฿150 for students aged 7–18, ฿250 for students aged 19–22, and ฿150 for visitors with disabilities. Tickets are non-refundable, valid for single admission only, and tied to the date and time selected at booking. Visitors must be 7 or older, and children under 12 require adult supervision. Groups of more than 10 should contact reservations@dibbangkok.org directly.

Dib Bangkok is open Thursday to Monday, 10AM–7PM, closed Tuesday and Wednesday. Tickets can be booked in advance at dibbangkok.org.

It was a sublime experience, some haunting,.some turning the mind to.confetti, some deeply piercing pieces. Initially I went to park my motorbike at the parking lot marked on Google Map at the end of Soi 40. After wondering around looking for the entrance to the museum, going up and down, I found one guard who was feeding a stray cat. Bless his heart, he dropped his first good Samaritan work, got on his bicycle and guided me to the main parking lot in the underground of the museum. His kindness really put a rosy hue on my experience. But the museum itself was also well worth it. I had just visited MOCA the week before, but Dib, even with fewer pieces was more rewarding and thought provoking by leaps.
