FORMAT BKK is the music event space Phaya Thai has quietly become known for — a hidden creative retreat tucked at the end of a narrow soi in Ari, where vinyl records, live music, and hands-on workshops coexist in a mid-century retro setting designed for people who appreciate the art of listening.

The Space
Inspired by the slower rhythms of mid-century design and the communal energy of record shop culture, FORMAT BKK brings together a vinyl library, a lounge café, and an event floor under one roof. The interior blends warm retro aesthetics with modern infrastructure — a deliberate choice that makes it equally suited to a quiet afternoon flipping through records or a full evening event with sound, lighting, and a crowd. The space is pet-friendly and open daily, drawing a mix of music lovers, creatives, and curious visitors who share an appreciation for sound culture.

Events & Live Music
FORMAT BKK’s events programme centres on music as connection. The schedule includes listening parties, intimate acoustic sessions by Thai and international artists, and DJ-led evenings that attract a community of music lovers. Past highlights have featured exclusive performances by well-known Thai artists in a close-up, limited-ticket format that prioritises atmosphere over capacity. Each event is designed around what the team calls “the art of listening” — the idea that music deserves proper attention, not background-noise status.

Creative Workshops
The workshop programme is one of FORMAT BKK’s most distinctive offerings. Participants can create personalised NFC-embedded keychains — cassette-shaped or mini CD-shaped — that, when tapped with a phone, unlock exclusive digital playlists. Sessions run daily across three time slots (12:30–14:30, 15:00–17:00, 17:30–19:30), with no experience required. Other workshops include vinyl painting, where participants customise LP records as art objects. Materials are included, and sessions are kept small to maintain a personal creative atmosphere.

Venue Hire & Event Production
FORMAT BKK is available for private and corporate hire. The team offers full-service event production: concept development, stage design, sound and lighting setup, live streaming, and artist or DJ booking. Whether you’re planning a brand activation, product launch, or private celebration, the space can be configured for intimate gatherings or larger events. Music programming services are also offered independently, allowing clients to engage FORMAT BKK’s curatorial expertise for off-site occasions.
