Talat Noi Bangkok is one of the city’s oldest surviving neighbourhoods — a tight grid of riverside alleys in Samphanthawong that managed to stay working-class, Chinese-Thai, and genuinely itself while the rest of the city changed around it. Street art, creative cafés, and independent galleries have arrived in recent years, but so have the car-part garages, century-old shrines, and dim sum stalls. Both exist at once, and that contrast is the point.
Street Art
The creative scene here traces back to the Buk Ruk arts festival in 2016, when international and local street artists were invited to paint along Charoenkrung Soi 32 (Trok San Chao Rong Kueak). The murals have multiplied since. Work from artists including Alex Face, Lolay, and Sabek can be found on warehouse walls, alley gates, and shophouse shutters across the neighbourhood. The best concentrations are around Trok San Chao Rong Kueak, the alleys south of River City, and the stretch from Warehouse 30 to Charoenkrung Soi 30.
Creative Spaces & Cafés
965bkk opened in 2025 inside a 200-year-old Chinese merchants’ warehouse — a garden café, gift shop, and lounge that’s already one of the most talked-about spaces in the area. Mother Roaster sits on the top floor of an old garage above a working workshop; climb the wooden stairs for specialty coffee, cats, and a wooden terrace. Timo and Tintin Art Cafe spreads across several floors like a wandering pop-up gallery, with a rooftop that usually has it to yourself. Warehouse 30 anchors the creative south end — a converted industrial complex with coffee shops and rotating art exhibitions between Charoenkrung Sois 30 and 32. 608 Gallery has been showing Thai and international artists for years. Citizen Tea Canteen doubles as an artisanal shop selling local crafts and homeware, hidden down the back streets.
Rong Kuak Shrine & River
One of Bangkok’s most photogenic spots, Rong Kuak Shrine sits right on the Chao Phraya — a Hakka-style Chinese temple built during the reign of King Rama V, with a small viewing tower and a statue of Han Gao Zu inside. A short walk along the riverbank brings you to the Marine Department Pier viewpoint and one of Bangkok’s oldest banyan trees.
The Rusty Car
An abandoned car — said to be a Fiat — has rusted entirely into the red-brick warehouse wall beside it, becoming one of Talat Noi’s most photographed landmarks. Found along the path between Mother Roasters and the street art alleys; there is almost always a photo shoot in progress.
Walking the Area
Talat Noi connects directly into Song Wat Road to the northeast — together they form one of Bangkok’s best half-day routes. The Talat Noi Museum (opened 2024, free, closed Mondays) near Phanurangsi Pier is worth a stop for neighbourhood history. Free to explore.
Getting There
Best arrival: Chao Phraya Express Orange flag boat to Stop 4 (Marine Department Pier), closest to the street art and Rong Kuak Shrine. Alternatively, MRT Blue Line to Hua Lamphong (Exit 2) and walk south, or take the 8 THB river shuttle from IconSiam or Khlong San Pier to Si Phraya Ferry Pier (next to River City Bangkok).

in the last weekバンコクの中華街のすぐ南、チャオプラヤー川に沿って広がる古くからの華人街です。星4の評価をつけました。 18世紀に移民が定住し始めた地区で、1787年に建てられたホーリー・ロザリオ教会、築200年ほどの中国式住宅ソー・ヘン・タイ、古い廟など歴史を感じさせる建物が今も残っています。第二次大戦後は中古自動車部品を扱う業者が集まって発展し、部品が積み上がった作業場の光景は今もこの地区らしさとなっています。 2016年に開催されたアートフェスティバルをきっかけに、路地に描かれた壁画が名所になり、川沿いにはカフェも徐々に増えてきているようです。 アクセスはMRTのフアランポーン駅、またはチャオプラヤー・エクスプレスボートの船着き場から歩くのが便利です。古き良きバンコクの雰囲気に触れたいなら、訪れる価値があります。
